
Deacon Matthew was born and raised in the Salt Lake City, Utah area. Matthew was baptized at Saint Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church as a child where he was active as an altar boy and in the Spanish Choir. After graduating High School, he received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with a minor in Spanish from the University of Utah in 1997. He then continued his education at the University of Notre Dame and received a Master of Business Administration in 2001. After which he moved to Boise, Idaho to pursue a career at Hewlett Packard Electronics Corporation, where he is still currently employed. He met his wife Natalia while living in Boise. They were married in October 2004 in Salt Lake City, Utah, and were crowned in Orthodox Church in January 2016. They have four children Yzabella, Amalia, Lucas, and Kassiani.
Deacon Matthew and his family were received into the Orthodox Church on May 5th, 2004. From the time of his family’s reception into the Church, he has served as an acolyte, a chanter, Parish Council Chairman, and Treasurer. Matthew has taught Church School, visited the local prisons to pray and teach about the faith, and currently assists Father teaching Catechumen\inquirer’s class. Matthew was elevated to the Subdeaconate on December 21st, 2010, and was ordained to the Holy Diaconate on December 13,2018, at the hand of Metropolitan Joseph. He loves serving Christ and his Church as a Deacon!
