Fr. Mark Fenn, Archpriest

Father Mark is the pastor of Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Church in Boise Idaho. He was born and raised by in Idaho Falls, Idaho by Stan and Sheila Fenn. After graduating at Bonneville High School in 1986, he received his Bachelor’s Degree for Business Administration in Computer Information Systems at Idaho State in 1991. Fall of 1987 he met his future wife, Michelle, while “gazing over the slide of a trombone”. In June of 1991 he and Michelle were married in the Baptist Church. Once married, the couple became Methodist to not override one of the other in their faith. After being Youth Leaders for 6 years, the Fenns knew they needed to search for a deeper and consistent faith. With the guidance and prayers of Father Patrick and Kh Christina OGrady, they became Orthodox in 1998. 1999 they were blessed with Mariah, 2001 Marcus and in 2020 they were able to adopt their foster daughter since 2009, Joslyn. 

Father Mark completed a Bachelors of Business Administration at Idaho State University in 1991. After receiving a position with First Security Bank, the Fenn’s relocated to Boise Idaho. Father began working for the City of Boise in 1998 as a programmer analyst for the Boise Police Department, Secretary of State Office and City Hall where he currently works as a Web-developer/ Analyst.  

Kh Michelle graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Speech Pathology and Audiology in 1991, followed by a M.Ed. in Early Childhood Special Education. She has been involved in teaching every grade level in the public school, co-ops, and homeschool. She has spoke at conferences on teach methodology and inclusion. In 2013, Kh pursued an additional career in Massage Therapy with a focus on medical massage: oncology and for those with disabilities. She currently teaches massage therapy at a local for-profit school and is a sole proprietor of her own massage business focusing on clients who have disabilities, chronic illnesses, or cancer.

Father and Kh have served Holy Transfiguration since it’s inception in 1997. Both Father Mark and Kh Michaela were chrismated PASCHA of 1998 at St Ignatius Orthodox Church by Very Reverend Philip Nixon in Twin Falls, Idaho. 

After completing the St. Stephen Course and House of Studies, Father Mark was sub-ordained March 31st, 2002 at St Ignatius, Metropolitan Joseph presiding. January 18th, 2005 Father Mark was ordained to the Holy Diaconate at Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Church, Boise Idaho. January 11th, 2006 Father Mark was ordained to the Holy Priesthood to serve Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Church. December 13, 2018 Metropolitan Joseph surprised Father Mark by elevating him to Archpriest at Holy Transfiguration’s new home in Meridian Idaho.

Father Mark has a passion for serving the holy services and a deep love for the people. He has prayed for and visited those in prison, hospitals and shut-ins. He has walked next to us and exhorted us to get up when we have fallen, consoled us in our despair, baptized our children, married us, blessed our homes, buried and prayed for our departed loved ones, and heard our confessions – all within the love of Christ! Kh. has served in the choir, as Church School director, youth director, women’s ministry leadership and is currenly the lead in the St. Xenia Burial Ministry.
